Travel Checklists for the Organized Traveler
Pre-Checklist for Travel
These are things that you want to do months or up to a week in advance.
Planning Travel and Creating the plan.
- Verify Passport Validity and dates of Expiration
- IDP (International Drivers Permit) -if you plan on renting a car
- Car Insurance Letters if using a special credit card
- Confirm Visa requirements
- Travel Insurance
- Check the Weather at the Destination
- Airport Parking
- All Documents Printed out if you choose (recommended)
- Foreign currency if you choose
- New $100 Bills
- Small bills for tips
- Confirm Medications if traveling internationally.
- Confirm travel alerts and pins on Bank cards
Special Items
- Cell charger, extra cord
- Personal Medications including Imodium and anything you may need for your comfort

- Earbuds for the plane travel
- Neck pillow for plane
Carry-On Bag Essentials

- Travel pillow and eye mask
- Earplugs
- Snacks and water bottle (to fill up at the airport)
- Books, magazines, or entertainment
- Lightweight blanket (if you get cold easily)
- Important travel documents (always carry this on you when you travel from spot to spot. Keep them in a plastic sealed bag so they don't get wet.)
- Valuables (anything you don't want to lose)

Travel Lists
These are items that you will be packing before your trip, but will be necessary to stay prepared
Toiletries (Focus on Travel size and under 3.4 oz)
- Shampoo, conditioner, Soap
- Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Floss or water-pik, mouthwash
- Shaver, shaving Cream
- Cologne or Perfume
- Deodorant, hand lotion
- Nails clipper, Nail file
- Cotton swabs, cotton balls
- Body powder
- Feminine products, sanitary products like wipes
- Chapstick, body powder, and wet wipes
Clothes
I like to focus on packing light, as typically, we tend to pack heavier than not more often. I would plan on a change of clothes per day
- 1 pair of socks and 1 pair of undergarments per day
- 1 T-shirt per day and 1 pair of shorts/pants per day
- An extra nice pair of shoes for a nice dinner or event
- An extra nice outfit for a nice dinner or event
Keep in mind, that you can pack as much or as and little as you want, depending on the level, type of travel you choose. Use the Roll method for packing

- Medications (prescriptions and over-the-counter)
- First aid kit (band-aids, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers)
- Hand sanitizer and face masks
- Insect repellent
- Sunscreen
- Some locations may be particular on what type of sunscreen you are allowed.

This is a list to help one prepare for the trip. Keep in mind, that this is not an all-inclusive list of everything needed for every type of traveler. Keep in mind, when carrying liquids and lotions. Size of the bottle matters and whether you can check it in or carry on the plane. You will always want to keep these items in plastic so if they expode or leak.
